This blog post will be told in two parts. First my version….
2 weeks earlier:
Lori: Let’s sign up for the Cinco de Mayo 10k run?
Me: ok.
3 days prior to race:
Me: I signed up for the race a few days ago, did you?
Lori: No, will you sign me up?
2 days before race:
Lori: I found Loteria disposable cuttlery! This means we must throw a “cinco de drinko, we finished the race party” at once!
1 day before race:
Lori: I’m nervous about it! What if I get lost? How will I know where to go? What if there is a group of people in front of me that won’t move? Do I kick them in the back of the knees? Do you think I will finish?
Me: uhhhh?? Oh, Lee is in town and will meet us after the race.
Repeat conversation about 47 times prior to start of race.
And now for the funnier extended version—-
After hyperventilating all night thinking about being a lost little Mexican somewhere in the Terwilliger curves (which the race didn’t even take place at) I rallied up enough courage to show up. Michael and I created playlists that would pump us up throughout the race and I have to say I kicked a little bit of ass. I will, however, admit that after focusing on beating a chick with a big “cottage cheese ass” throughout the entire race she came back with the vengeance on the last lap and whooped me. The White Stripes pounded in my ears, finish line in plain view, but this TAO was ready to keel over so I let her beat me without a drop of shame.
I came in smack dab in the middle for my age group so I wasn’t complaining. Plus there was 3 beers and a taco waiting for me at the finish line which is all I could have hoped for.

Lee drove all the way from North Carolina to capture this historical event. (Actually he flew into town for work but it sounded important didn’t it?)

I pretended like he was drinking beer as we posed for a photo but really he was on his way to work.

3 free Red Hooks later it was off to our Cinco de Drinko partay! I found some fancy Loteria cutlery which was a free pass for a Cinco de Mayo party!
Fanciest disposable cutlerey in the LAND! The Professor was even impressed!

Meh-hee-can food!

Shots?

Thanks for the food, I has bigtime chorro now.
Could be the volumes of al-kee-haul you consumed over past 72 hours? No, must’ve been food. Viva Montezuma’s Revenge! He will have it!
Bah! No, it couldn’t have been the glorious combo of liquor/wine/keg stands…must’ve been the water supply at NW where-ever-the-hell-you-live Avenue.
