Yesterday I was looking at the Oregon Humane Society and came across the cutest Chihuahua with bat-like ears and what the description said was the friendliest personality. I twittered the link to Lori and the immediate response was that she was getting him and she was already at home constructing his 57 room McMansion. However, our hopes were crushed when we met him and discovered a serious medical condition that would involve the following words “surgery,” “removal,” and “penis.” I’ll let you choose the order of the words, but we just could not make that work. With somber hearts and tear stained faces we made another quick look online and Lori found an ad for some teacup Chihuahuas. She emailed them and by 9am the next morning she was pleading with me to call because they had not responded. I refused but in 10 minutes she came bounding down the stairs – “WE ARE GOING TO SEE THEM IN AN HOUR!!”
We arrived at the crackhouse, err, meth lab, err, really it was bad and I fully expect to see the headline 97 puppies rescued from home set aflame by neighbors in defense of their hygiene. The seller, a woman with several fresh scabs and cracked ribs*, brought out a number of puppies but not the one that Lori wanted from the ad. Lori asked if she had more and she brought out one more. “It’s him!” Lori exclaimed.
Today we are having guests over for BBQ food and Fourth of July fun. We have not accomplished a thing because we have spent the morning cooing over our new born son.
And now prepare to die from cuteness! We present to you San Juan Avalos Fenwick (aka Juanito)
*She apparently had gotten into a fistfight in the street with a woman and had a broken rib. The money was going to pay for her painkiller prescription and gas for the truck. Glad we could give back to our community and help a sister out!
